Fresh, dried, or egg pasta!! Pasta is the undisputed queen of Italian cuisine.
Among the types of pasta the dried pasta is the most common. So you can definitely use dried penne to prepare one of the most famous recipe of the Italian cuisine.
Ingredients:
penne: 400 grams
ripe tomatoes for the sauce: 700 grams
bacon or pancetta: 150 grams
lard (or butter): 30 grams
onion: 1
garlic: 2 cloves
hot pepper: 1
olive oil: 1 tablespoon
grated pecorino cheese: 5 tablespoons
basil
salt
Preparation
1 – boil for one minute the tomatoes, peal and cut them into cubes.
2 – In a large frying pan heat the oil and the lard (or butter) and then brown the garlic and the chopped onion with the bacon cut into cubes.
3 – Add the tomatoes and the hot pepper, adjust salt, put the lid and let it cook on moderate heat for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon.
4 – Meanwhile, put a pot on the fire with water, bring it to boil, add the salt and put the penne into the boiling water. Drain the pasta “al dente” and pour it into the pan with the tomato sauce; add a few leaves of basil and let it cook for a few minutes with a lively flame. Sprinkled it with the grated pecorino cheese and serve it.
